Perfect Sweaters for Winter Travel

Perfect Sweaters for Winter Travel

If you’re familiar with my blog, you know that I love to travel to warm places during the winter. I can’t bear to be in the cold too long, but honestly dressing for the cold is more fun for me than dressing in the summer. Between November and March every year, I try to visit New York City at least once. Packing for these trips is always a challenge… I never know how cold it will be or what to bring.  I am always on the hunt for the perfect sweaters to pack when traveling!

For me, the hardest part about traveling in the winter is finding clothes that are warm enough and easy to re-wear. I am literally always cold, so warmth is a big deal! To top it off, winter clothes take up much more room in my suitcase! Since I mostly travel with a carry-on, I have to think ahead and plan out my outfits before packing.

Travel tip: Try to re-wear bulky items, and limit the sweaters to just one or two for a weekend trip! Keep them fresh by wearing a tank top underneath. To keep clothes smelling like laundry in your suitcase, pack a dryer sheet or two between your clothes!

Lately, I’ve been buying a lot of sweaters. While it is possible to find a sweet deal on a sweater anywhere, I personally love to buy my winter sweaters at Macy’s for two reasons: 1. They have such a variety of brands and thousands of exclusive items. 2. There is ALWAYS a sale!

I’ve rounded up my favorite winter sweaters that help you stay warm, maintain style and save money! While finding the perfect sweaters may be a challenge, Macy’s really makes it a whole lot easier.  Almost all of the perfect sweaters below are designed exclusively for Macy’s!

The first sweater pictured above is the Ribbed Puff-Sleeve Sweater by Ralph Lauren that can easily go from day-to-night! When traveling, I would probably style it with jeans or warm leggings during the day, and add a higher boot or leather pant to make it into a night look. The style is similar to the Bishop-Sleeve Tunic Sweater, which has more of a v-neck instead of a turtleneck. Clearly puffy sleeves are very in style right now!

The blue sweater pictured above is a great Cotton Turtleneck Sweater that is warm and easy to wear with jeans and riding boots! I ordered this in three colors and always make sure to pack one when traveling. It truly is one of the perfect sweaters for winter travel!

I was obsessed with the frills on the Callum Ruffled Sweater as soon as I saw it! This is one of the perfect sweaters for an easy transition from day to night!

The Zipper-Detail Raglan Sleeve Sweater  comes in ten colors and is very versatile! I would pair it with jeans, leather pants, or a skirt! It can easily be thrown on under a leather jacket, or with a puffer coat – depending on what your plans are while traveling! The same thing can be said about the Side-Zip High-Low Top. While it is not a sweater, it is one of the warmest long-sleeve tops I own!

Packing tip: Winter tops are bulkier than bottoms. Switch up outfits by incorporating the same top with two different bottoms. This will help make it easier to pack into a carry-on suitcase!

Both of the white sweaters pictured above are by Free People. Free People sweaters are known to be oversized. Buying too big of a size may result in a look that is not too flattering. I always size down a size in Free People Sweaters because I like the fit more! Both the Eleven Oversized Cowl-Neck Sweater and the Ottoman Ribbed Tunic Sweater are super comfy and soft!

The black, Call Me Cardi Fitted Top is also by Free People, but I found it runs more true to size! I love that it can be worn solo, and reveal a little cleavage, for a cute night out look. I would pair it with my Kendra Scott Elisa necklace in Platinum Drusy to pull it all together.
